Reggae star Bob Marley has again been listed in Forbes’ annual ranking of ‘The Highest-Paid Dead Celebrities.’
Marley earned an estimated US$21 million (roughly 2.7 billion Jamaican Dollars) during the 12 month period ending October 1.
However, according to the ranking by Forbes, the majority of his earnings aren’t attributed to album sales but his House of Marley audio products, Marley’s Mellow Mood beverages, and merchandise sales.
Marley’s earnings place him 6th in the ranking by Forbes.
The list is topped for a fourth consecutive year by pop star Michael Jackson who passed away in 2009. Jackson is estimated to have earned an impressive $825 million. The recent $750 million sales of the Jackson estate contributed significantly to his earnings.
Prince is ranked 5th with earnings of US$25 million, Elvis Presley – 4th with US$27 million, Arnold Palmer – 3rd with US$40 million, and Charles Schulz – 2nd with earnings of US$ 48 million.
Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981 at the age of 36.
