Bobby Shmurda is facing several years in prison if he is found guilty on attempted murder and drug trafficking charges.
The New York rapper with one hit single under his belt was poised to establish himself in the music business, but it looks instead like he’ll be spending a considerable amount of time either behind bars or fighting to stay out of jail.
He was arrested last week alongside many in his GS9 crew and hit with a 69-count indictment, including reckless endangerment, several gun charges, gang conspiracy, attempted murder, murder, drug trafficking and assault.
His bail is set at $2 million.
The charges are reportedly a result of a two-year investigation involving the NYPD and a special narcotics prosecutor.
Authorities reportedly turned their attention to the rapper and his clique due to a number of violent incidents involving them and other Brooklyn-based gangs and concern that they were pulling in income from the sale of cocaine.
At the time of the arrest, police found at least 10 weapons and a small quantity of crack.
Bobby Shmurda whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and weapons charges.
His attorney says he is innocent.
