Ciara and fiance Future have welcomed their first child together, named Future Zahir Wilburn, on Monday, May 19.
The R&B singer confirmed the news herself via Twitter and Facebook on Tuesday.
“FUTURE ZAHIR WILBURN 9lbs 10oz May 19 2014,” read the text accompanying a snapshot of lil’ Future’s arm and hand.
Page Six reported that the singer gave birth very early on Monday morning, in Los Angeles.
Ciara, 28, announced her happy news during an appearance on The View back in January, when she first debuted her sizable baby bump.
The “I’m Out” singer’s big reveal came just three months after she and the rapper-producer (nee Nayvadius D. Wilburn) announced they were engaged.
“I feel great,” Ciara told Us of her beautiful pregnancy in early April. “I didn’t even know what to expect, but it’s been a very easy process—and it’s been so much fun,” she gushed. “Honestly, it’s been the coolest experience in my life! Besides getting engaged which happened last year, this has been pretty awesome.”
The proud new parents had already chosen the name for their little one long before he was born.
“It was kind of easy,” she shared with Us. “But the middle name was a little hard for me… I went with what felt right in my soul and my gut. I didn’t second guess it.”
This is the first child for Ciara and the second for Future, who is already dad to a son from a previous relationship.
“It’s so cool when you’re blessed to give the gift of life,” Ciara told Us. “I love kids so much, I’m literally obsessed with kids. So I’m excited about being able to have my own to obsess over.”
Ciara and Future first started dating in early 2013 and got engaged last October.
“We love being around each other and that’s just what it is,” Future told Vibe in February. “The chemistry is there. It’s amazing. She makes me happy, I make her smile.”
The rapper-producer, who’s collaborated with stars like Miley Cyrus, proposed to his love with a huge 15-carat diamond ring during her birthday celebration in NYC.
