Michael Jordan has topped a new Forbes list of the highest-paid athletes ever, with staggering personal wealth totaling $1.7 billion.

Forbes took task of finding the 20 highest paid athletes ever and revealed it was basketball legend, Michael Jordan, came in at number one. The Chicago Bulls legend has amassed a massive wealth of $1.7 billion.

Jordan played 15 seasons in the NBA which allowed him to earn $93 million.

He also earned from endorsements with Hanes, Gatorade, Coca-Cola, McDonalds among others.

Much of his wealth comes from his “Jordan” imprint owned by Nike, he earns royalties from every shoe, hoodie and shorts sold. He earned $100 million alone from the brand earlier this year.

The Jordan brand earned Nike $2.8 billion in the last fiscal year and is expected to make $4.5 billion for the American company by 2020.

Golfer Tiger Woods came in second with $1.67 billion. He was previously the highest paid for the last 11 years.

Cristiano Ronaldo ranks as the highest paid footballer in 14th with $620 million while Lionel Messi is the youngest on the list in 17th with $520 million.
