Reggae crooner George Nooks has been arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.

Reggae veteran was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine on Saturday, May 6, Hype Life Magazine has learned.

The 56-year-old Jamaican entertainer was arrested in St Andrew after a plastic bag with a small quantity of white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, was found in his 2016 Mercedes-Benz SUV.

Nooks of Widcombe Heights, Kingston 6 was spotted acting in a suspicious manner by lawmen on an operation in his community shortly after 9:00 pm, according to police reports.

“As the detectives approached him, he opened the vehicle and threw a paper bag inside,” sources revealed.

The vehicle was reportedly searched “in his presence and view” and the paper bag retrieved.

“The bag was found to contain a small transparent plastic bag with white powdery substance resembling cocaine,” according to police sources.

The bag reportedly contained just under two ounces of cocaine. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

It’s reported that Nooks’ luxury vehicle was also taken to the station “for safekeeping.”

The “God is Standing By” hitmaker was charged with possession of cocaine and offered bail in the sum of $80,000.

He is to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on May 17.
