Dancehall entertainer Gully Bop was allegedly arrested in New York on Wednesday, July 20.
Bop, whose real name is Robert Lee Malcolm, was reportedly escorted out of JFK airport terminal 8 in handcuffs.
The Jamaican native was scheduled to board a flight from New York back to Kingston, according to a source.
“He was surrounded by about 5 plain clothes cops I’m not sure what agency they were from nor what he did. He didn’t board his 3:40pm flight today to Miami with a connection to Kingston,” a source told Hype Life Magazine exclusively.
It remains unclear what charges were leveled against the deejay.
In the meanwhile, Dancehall fans are speculating with all sorts of stories; from Gully Bop’s mugshot being fake to Amari aka Dj Mona Lisa (Bop’s ex-boo) being the reason behind his arrest.
Over the past months, social media has been bombarded with unfiltered information about the couple’s personal life and users are less than pleased.
Some fans are claiming that Bop was released from jail on bail after being charged with domestic violence and robbery against Amari in New York.
Attempts to get a comment from the entertainer was unsuccessful.
Gully Bop, who is known for songs like Body Specialist, My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me and Kill Dem With Style, is scheduled to perform alongside his ex-girlfriend Chin Chin and current boo Rica Bop on Guyana on July 21.
