Gully Bop, who is accused of assaulting his wife, has filed for divorce after being arrested and charged.

has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife Deborrah Nicholson after less than a year of marriage.

The controversial Dancehall artist filed the documents last week amid his domestic violence case.

The 54-year-old artist is currently on $40,000 bail after being arrested two weeks ago and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Gully Bop, whose real name is Robert Malcolm, appeared in the St Thomas Parish Court on Wednesday (June 27) on allegations that he beat and slapped his spouse in her face during a domestic dispute at their home in Nuts River in the parish on June 8.

Gully Bop and Deborrah Nicholson reportedly got married back in February.

This is not the first time the Jamaican artist has been accused of assaulting his partner.

Bop was slapped with domestic charges in 2016. He was arrested by police at John F Kennedy Airport in New York in July that year while attempting to board a flight to Jamaica.

Former girlfriend and manager A’mari DJ Mona Lisa accused him of “running her down with a butcher knife” and stealing her passport and United States Green Card. Gully Bop was released on US$1,200 bail when he appeared in the Brooklyn Criminal Court. The charges were later dropped.
