Grammy-nominated artiste Jah Cure was arrested by police on Tuesday, following an altercation that took place at the Atlantis Paradise Island Hotel in the Bahamas over the weekend.
Jah Cure, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court here on Tuesday after being accused of committing a misdemeanor that stemmed from an argument on Sunday.
The incident was captured on camera and distributed on social media.
Jah Cure, along with his manager Terefe Mason appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney, to face the single charge of “fighting in a public place”.
The “Longing For” singer, who was on the island for a concert, pleaded not guilty to the charge when called on by the magistrate during his arraignment.
His manager, however, pleaded guilty and was fined $150 Bahamian dollars or one month in prison.
Jah Cure was subsequently discharged and the matter was adjourned to November 23 when the case will proceed against Thompson.
Earlier this week, following the fighting incident, the singer posted a video on social media telling his fans that he was the peacemaker in the fight that left him unconscious on the ground outside the hotel lobby.
“I didn’t get beat up, I wasn’t in a fight, I was just trying to part a fight between two men. One of them was drunk and acting stupid,” Cure said.
There are also rumors that Jah Cure was having an affair with a female who is married to the man he was fighting with.
However, the Reggae singer denied those allegations calling them false.
