Jamaican acts are running the Billboard Reggae chart this summer!
Perfect Giddimani acquired his first number one on the Billboard Reggae Album chart last week with “Live My Life Again,” which knocks Damian Marley’s “Stony Hill” from the top spot to second.
“Live My Life Again,” which was released on July 7, has sold 1,094 copies to date.
Perfect Giddimani, whose given name Greg Rose, was born in Bamboo district of St Ann. He rose to prominence in 2004 with “Hand Cart Bwoy.”
Marley’s “Stony Hill,” which spent three weeks at number one, debuted on July 21 via Republic Records with sales of just over 6,000 copies. Now number two, it has sold a mere 9,649 copies with . sales of 797 copies in the past week.
Sizzla Kalonji earns the highest-charter of his career with “I’m Yours,” which debuted at number three. The 11 track compilation was produced by Jon FX and was released on August 11.
Former number one “Chronology” by Chronixx, which has to date sold over 3,980 copies, falls to number four while “Falling Into Place” by Rebelution inches down to number five. It has so far sold 38,843 copies.
Major Lazer’s “Know No Better” falls to number seven, having sold just over 3,969 copies to date.
At eight is the compilation “Reggae Gold 2017.”
