The pop star confirmed her appearance with an Instagram post featuring a revised poster for the festival.
“Let’s party in the desert!” Lady Gaga captioned the photo.
Beyoncé, who is pregnant with twins, decided to pull out of the festival following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months. However, she will headline the festival in 2018.
Lady Gaga will plug in for Beyoncé on April 15th and 22nd at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.
Her fellow headliners include Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar.
Coachella organizers were adamant that a female performer would replace Beyoncé, according to Billboard. Lady Gaga will now be the first woman to headline the festival since Björk in 2007.
In October 2016, Lady Gaga released her latest album, Joanne, and recently performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. On August 1st, she’s set to embark on a massive arena and stadium tour in support of Joanne at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
With regard to Beyoncé, the pop star recently announced that she and husband Jay-Z are expecting twins. She appeared at the Grammys 2017, where she performed two songs from Lemonade and took home two awards, Best Music Video for “Formation” and Best Urban Contemporary Album.
