Meghan Markle has topped Google’s list of the most-searched actresses in 2016.
The actress, previously best known for her role on Suits, sky-rocketed to become Google’s most searched actress of 2016, when news surfaced of her royal romance with Prince Harry the end of October.
So to put this in context, a majority of those Google searches probably happened in the last month and a half.
Marion Cotillard is number two for what would appear to be reasons similarly unconnected to her acting career. Cotillard has had a relatively quiet year in terms of mainstream film work, but made headlines in September thanks to unsubstantiated rumors of an affair with Brad Pitt.
More surprising is the number three spot which went to Fuller House actress Jodie Sweetin.
The list becomes more encouraging as it continues with Oscar-winning actresses Brie Larson and Alicia Vikander.
Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley and Stranger Things’ breakout star Millie Bobby Brown round-off the list.
