Ninja Man has a serious heart condition, according to his attorney.
On Monday (Nov 6), reports surfaced that the embattled deejay’s health was in serious condition after allegedly suffering a mild heart attack on Friday (Nov 3).
Hype Life Magazine now understands that the Dancehall veteran is in need of an emergency heart surgery.
Ninja Man’s attorney, Valerie Neita Robinson, on Tuesday (Nov 7) revealed that the “People Dead” deejay will need heart surgery “as soon as possible” as he has been diagnosed with a serious heart problem that requires urgent medical attention.
“We have the medical, Ninjaman has a serious heart condition, and he will have to have an operation which will require a recovery period of three to four months,” Valerie Neita Robinson told Loop Jamaica.
“So we want to finish this case as quickly as possible because Ninjaman cannot go under any stress right now and has to remain as calm as possible,” she added.
The high-profile attorney expressed that they look forward to finishing the murder case as quickly as possible to avoid further difficulties to the Jamaican entertainer’s health.
“We have to finish this case as quickly as possible in order to take him out of this stressful situation and believe me, it is stressful, any human being will be stressed,” she said.
“Well, he needs to do an angioplasty as soon as possible, his pulse rate is very low, normally the pulse rate of the average human being is about 90, Ninjaman’s rate is 40. the blood is not going to all the places in the heart, and being stationary is not very good for him,” she added.
Ninja Man’s lawyer also disclosed that reputable doctors have diagnosed that there is need of a ‘vascular intervention’ because there is evidence in Ninja Man’s heart of severely reduced blood flow (ischemia) to an area of heart muscle caused by one or more narrowed coronary arteries.
Nevertheless, his condition of a narrowed or blocked artery is likely to be treated successfully with angioplasty, which is not a major surgery.
Despite the devastating news, Ninja Man is expected to return to court for his murder trial on Wednesday (Nov 8).
Meanwhile, sources say it is unlikely that the prosecution could sum up their case Wednesday as another witness is expected to be called.
During his trial last week, Ninjaman complained of severe chest pains and difficulty breathing before he was rushed to private doctors. The incident forced an abrupt end to the session, which was held in camera at the Supreme Court in downtown Kingston.
The hospitalized deejay, however, gave his lawyer permission to go on with the case without him.
Ninja Man, whose real name is Desmond Ballentyne, along with his son, Janeil, and another man, Dennis Clayton, is charged with the shooting death of Ricardo Johnson who was gunned down in the Waltham Park area in 2009. He was granted bail in 2012.
The Dancehall deejay was taken into custody last month after his bail was revoked by High Court judge, Justice Martin Gayle, who ordered the murder trial to begin immediately.
The case, first mentioned in court the same year, has had 17 missed trial dates and 23 mention dates since then.
