and recently met together for a groundbreaking ceremony for a new development in the parish of St. Thomas.

The star and the gathered together for the event last week Wednesday.

The development to be undertaken is the new Morant Bay Urban Center. The Urban Center will comprise of BPO companies (call centers) among other job opportunities.

The Prime Minister described Popcaan as “a strong vocal advocate for the upliftment of St. Thomas.”

In an Instagram post, Mr. Holness also tweeted, “There’s a new energy flowing through 🇯🇲, we can see it in the buzz of activities taking place & St Thomas is now part of this new wave; its time has finally come! #NewJamaica!

“Thank you to @popcaanmusic and the people of St. Thomas for believing in our promise to redevelop your parish. #NewJamaica #FirmAndStrong.” the PM added.

Mr. Andrew Holness also shared several videos of the two holding serious reasoning and plowing the soil in St. Thomas.

Popcaan pledged his allegiance to any cause pertaining to the betterment of St. Thomas, of which he is a native.

He told the PM, “Anything weh yuh need mi to assist yuh wid, with the youths dem, mi ready.”
The property, which measures at a whopping 365,000 square foot, will also house the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation, a family and parish court, a branch of the Registrar General’s Department and a Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency office.

The government is intending to use the project to create a centralized location for St. Thomas’ municipal authorities. The Urban Center will be built on the grounds of an old factory which has been abandoned since 1997.
