Popcaan reveals his admiration for Vybz Kartel, ahead of the highly anticipated appeal of “Worl Boss” deejay, which his set for Monday (July 9).
The “Inviolable” deejay, who is preparing to drop his new album, “Forever,” took to social media to express gratitude to his former mentor.
On Monday, Popcaan shared a photo of himself and the “Real Youth” deejay on Instagram as he reminisces on the first time he met Kartel.
“2008 make the link wid the world boss… @vybzkartel respect alway goes out to a real OG👊🏿big up all who was a empire member..!!!” he captioned the photo.
Popcaan also reminds his fans about his sophomore album, which will be produced by Mixpax Records.
“New album July 20 2018. #FOREVER #FIRM&STRONG #FREEUP,” he added.
Popcaan and Vybz Kartel reportedly had a falling-out following the imprisonment of the former Portmore Empire founder. In a blistering letter released from behind bars, Kartel reportedly blasted former members and disbanded the group.
Earlier this year, the “Fever” deejay has come to terms with Tommy Lee Sparta.
Now, according to online sources, it is being said that he has made peace with Popcaan. He has yet to confirm the truce.
Vybz Kartel, whose given name Adidja Palmer, is currently serving a life sentence for his role in the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. He will be eligible for parole after serving 35 years.
His legal team has filed supplementary grounds and skeleton arguments in the Court of Appeal in downtown Kingston earlier this year to have his 2014 murder conviction overturned.
Meanwhile, Popcaan has released three tracks from his upcoming album including “Body So Good,” “Firm and Strong” and “Wine For Me.” “Forever” is expected to be released on July 20.
