Shaggy and Friends benefit concert raised over $100 million this year.

The legend confirmed that his annual benefit concert has raised a whopping JMD $100 million from this year’s staging of the event.

He reportedly presented the donation to the Bustamante Hospital for Children on Thursday (Feb 1).

The handing over took place in the boardroom of the hospital, with ’s Make A Difference Foundation being recognized as the architect behind the funds that were generated.

The money will be used to improve the Intense Care Unit (ICU) at the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

“Big Thanks to all who were involved!!!! All Artists, All Production Crew, Shaggy And Friends Staff, All Management and Staff at Bustamante Hospital,” Shaggy said.

“Special thanx to all of our artists and sponsors and to our patrons for making this possible. Special thanks to the management and staff of the Bustamente Hospital For Children … all funds raised on our latest initiative will be used towards building our new ICU. Give thanks,” he added.

The funds were earned from the Shaggy and Friends stage show which was staged on January 6 on the lawns of Jamaica House, with Shaggy being joined by other international performers, Sting, Wyclef Jean and Doug E Fresh, which aided in the presentation of a stellar entertainment package for the thousands who had turned out for the event.

The event also attracted a variety of local performers, with , Aidonia, Capleton, , , Barrington Levy and Junior Reid, as well as the husband and wife calypso team from Trinidad and Tobago, Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, being among the stars.

According to Shaggy, whose given name is Orville Burrell, while the venture this year earned $100 million, expenditure took a whopping $50 million, but with the help of local and international donors, including corporate entities and individuals, they were able to carry the amount back to the $100 million that had been targeted by the Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation.

The “Boombastic” deejay is currently working on their upcoming joint album 44/876, due on April 20th this year.
