Shenseea is a proud supporter the LGBT community.
On Thursday (June 14), the Dancehall artist shared several photos of herself sporting gay pride-inspired suspenders and shoes as she sent a message to her fans on social media.
“Alot of my supporters been messaging me in concern about how I feel for them being a #ShenYeng and having a certain preference..today I just wanna represent and tell y’all that your sexuality doesn’t matter to me 🙌🙌 I love all of y’all 😘😘❤️ #shenyengz #forever #loveislove,”she wrote on Instagram.
Shenseea is one of the very few Dancehall entertainers representing the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
June is Pride Month, when cities across the US show support for LGBT+ rights, culture, and communities.
LGBT is an acronym meaning lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. The term sometimes is extended to LGBTQ, or even LGBTQIA, to include queer, intersex and asexual groups. Queer is an umbrella term for non-straight people; intersex refers to those whose sex is not clearly defined because of genetic, hormonal or biological differences; and asexual describes those who don’t experience sexual attraction.
Last week, Shenseea became a hot topic last week when a leaked photo, allegedly of her giving brains to someone alleged Romeich Major, hit the net. She has since denied being in the photo but that didn’t stop her fans from bombarding her social media pages with questions after admitting that she does the act and has developed a liking for it.
The artist came onto the dancehall radar thanks to the track Loodi in 2016, a collaboration with Vybz Kartel, and since then she has been pushing a steady stream of crowd favourites, quickly becoming a hot pick in the streets as well as in corporate Jamaica with endorsement deals coming her way from Pepsi and Campari.
