According to sources, the Dancehall artist has been spending endless hours in the studio recently as she has been recording and finalizing tracks for an upcoming EP she intends to release later this year.
This EP will be her first project since she released her ‘Captured’ mixtape, which features the highly controversial song ‘Black Hypocrisy’, last year November.
Her “Captured” mixtape debuted at the #1 spot on the Billboard Reggae Charts, making Spice one of only nine women to make it to the top of the Reggae Charts.
The “Gum” singjay has stated that the mixtape was indicative of her fans need for compilations and not only singles from her.
“I have had a lot of hit songs over the years. My songs always do well by themselves, and so my focus was never really on releasing albums or EPs, especially because the relationship between my record label and I wasn’t the best,” she recently told the Jamaica STAR.
“When I released my Captured mixtape, I was overwhelmed at the response it got. The success surpassed all my expectations and completely blew me away, and so I want to continue doing projects like those, as I continue to grow. This EP that I’m working on is going to be special, the fans are going to love it,” she added.
Spice has not yet disclosed the name of her upcoming project but has stated that fans will know the name after summer has ended.
