According to reports, Shemara Todd was driving along Molynes Road, St Andrew, in the vicinity of Ken Hill Drive sometime after 5 p.m., when men traveling on motorcycles rode up and opened fire.
The vehicle later crashed into a hair salon. The woman received multiple gunshot wounds.
Corey Todd’s spouse was taken to hospital in critical condition.
This is the second shooting incident involving Corey Todd and his family in the last few years. In 2014, the businessman was shot and injured during a robbery incident in Montego Bay outside of a popular nightclub.
Corey Todd, who immigrated to Jamaica after falling in love with the island’s culture, became a well-known figure in Dancehall by his business partnership with Vybz Kartel. In 2008, the pair launched Street Vybz Rum and The Building Night Club.
On the midst of their bitter fallout in 2011, Todd ended their business partnerships. Kartel and Todd patched up their relationship and resurrected the Street Vybz brand in 2012. But since then, Street Vybz Rum reportedly went off market again.
Todd, who is the manager of Masicka, operates Taboo Night Clubs in New Kingston and in Montego Bay.
While cops are actively investigating the shooting, Shemara Todd is reportedly being treated.
