Vybz Kartel could be the first big name dancehall artist to release a biopic.

Sources close to has reportedly revealed that they are preparing a movie based on the life of the Dancehall artiste.

The movie will portray the life of the incarcerated deejay in the way to the stardom in Portmore and being Bounty Killer’s protégé.

There are no leaks about who will perform the role of Kartel in the biopic.

However, the source said that the movie could be titled Vybz Kartel and would be slated for release late this year or early 2017.

“The script is already being written and as soon as it get the stamp of approval from Vybz then casting and filming will take place,” the source explained to media reporters.

In related news, a petition is in the making for the embattled dancehall deejay.

Source reveals that a court appeal for Vybz Kartel will be forthcoming in 2016.

In September 2011, Vybz Kartel was arrested and slapped with two murder charges. He was found not guilty in the first trial but was not so fortunate in his second trial.

The 40 year old dancehall deejay is currently serving a life sentence and will not be eligible for parole until 35 years.
