Vybz Kartel Crowns 'King Of Dancehall' By Fox 5 New York

has been featured on Fox 5 NY news as the King of Dancehall.

The feature, aired on Wednesday, touched on the Jamaican artist’s rise to fame, international success, revered status as a musician and his incarceration.

It also included interviews from well known Dancehall insiders based in the United States including Hot 97’s Bobby Konders, whose label produced Vybz Kartel’s single “Pandora” featuring Ili Sanchea.

“He is one of the biggest names in Caribbean music despite being in prison for years, we are talking about the King of Dancehall, Vybz Kartel,” the anchors said.

Fox 5 NY’s general assignment reporter, Lisa Evers shared an incredible story about Vybz Kartel’s rise to fame in the Dancehall industry and possible redemption as he awaits a verdict in his appeal trial.

“For years millions of fans have been chanting the phrase, free “Worl’ Boss” one of the many names for Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel, a court ruling from a three judge panel and release from prison is expected soon but lock down hasn’t kept the King of Dancehall from dropping new music,” Evers said.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the “Fever” deejay shared his reaction to Fox 5 profiling his career.

“Some a Dem dj ya live a farin and nobody nuh know dem…dem say me live a #prison but the #King stays #Risen,” read his reaction via the photo sharing network.

“Real talk Fox 5 NY and as i said in my new single featuring Squash, “..every day cant be the same!..” so we still have faith in the justice system and my legal team and hope for a victory,” he continued.

“One #WorlBoss One #Don One #King … any other king is Burger King 😂,” he added.

Vybz Kartel’s lawyer Tom Tavares Finson reportedly declined an interview for the feature, citing the deejay’s upcoming Appeal as the reason. The “Watch Over Us” deejay was last year granted leave to appeal his life sentence for a murder charge. A decision in the matter is expected to be handed down “in weeks,” according to Kartel’s attorney.
