Vybz Kartel’s attorneys are anticipating a verdict for their client by the start of Spring this year.
Attorney at law Bert Samuels recently told media reporters that “they are hoping that by the end of March, they will get the judgment.”
He also revealed that they are “very very optimistic” about the outcome of the verdict.
Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm, along with two other men, made an appeal against their murder convictions and life sentences in the Supreme Court, six month ago.
The attorneys representing the men previously disclosed that they were hoping that the decision would be made during the last quarter of 2018.
The Dancehall entertainers and their co-accused were convicted of the killing of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams at a house in Havendale, St Andrew, in August 2011. They were all given the mandatory life sentences with Vybz Kartel ordered to serve 35 years before he is eligible for parole; while Sean Storm will be eligible for parole in 25 years.
Several attorneys appeared before the Court of Appeal, seeking to overturn the convictions and sentences of the men in July last year. Like many supportes of Vybz Kartel, the lawyers representing the incarcerated Dancehall deejay are anxiously awaiting a judgment following his appeal trial.
