is reportedly unaffected by the massive fire that raged at Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre on Wednesday (June 7) where the incarcerated deejay is serving a life sentence for murder.

The fire was reportedly confined to an area known as the George Davis Centre, where approximately 30 inmates were being housed. Kartel was not housed in that area, according to one correctional officer.

Sources say the inmates from the affected affected area of the facility have been transferred to another section of the prison.

While heavily-armed correctional officers, assisted by police, where monitoring the prison’s perimeter fencing, there have been no reports of injury or fatalities.

Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, was hit with a life sentence on April 3, 2014, and will not be eligible for parole until he has served 35 years in prison.

The Court of Appeal is to hear the appeal of convicted entertainer in February of next year.

Last year November, Vybz Kartel was transferred from the Horizon Remand Center to the Tower Street Prison following an investigation into speculations that he has been recording music illegally behind bars.
