Vybz Kartel is in full World Cup mode and apparently, prison won’t stop him.
On Friday (May 15), the incarcerated Dancehall superstar took to Instagram to show support for his football team Argentina.
“Iceland??…joke side..run over dem [Argentina],” Kartel wrote ahead of the one all draw which saw Lionel Messi missing a decisive penalty.
Fanataics of the “Do It” deejay immediately speculated on how Kartel would be able to watch the game while serving his life sentence for murder.
“How ya go watch it dawg,” a fan questioned
“Wid me eyes dawg,” Vybz Kartel immediately clapped back.
Vybz Kartel’s response instantly went viral.
However, some social media users were not amused.
“How can you be in maximum security prison and get to watch TV, Jamaica prison system is a joke,” one wrote.
“Y’all worried about him watch World Cup when the most important question is if this n***a really behind bars and on Instagram,” another wrote.
In May, Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was transferred to the St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre in Spanish Town.
According to sources, this location is not in a maximum security prison.
“In a maximum security prison like Horizon Remand Center, inmates don’t have a lot of privileges, they are only allowed outside of their cells for an hour per day,” a source recealed.
“This is not the case at the prison where Vybz Kartel is currently housed. They have access to TVs and more amenities like play area and fitness,” the source added.
