Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel is hailed by many as dancehall’s finest artiste even from behind bars. On Saturday (Feb. 21), the incarcerated entertainer proved those plaudits by copping four awards at the Youth View Awards.
His sons, Little Addi and Little Vybz, took home the awards for their father, much to the delight of the audience.
The National Indoor Sports Centre erupted when the deejay won his first award for Favourite Male Local Artiste of The Year while screams were followed by chants of ‘Free World Boss’, in reference to the ‘Cya Test’ deejay.
Kartel also won Favourite Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Favourite Local Chart-topping Song, and Hottest Summer Song for “Miami Vice”.
He was also nominated for Favourite Musical Collaboration at the event.
Kartel was sentenced to 35 years in prison last April for the August 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
