Wycliffe Mitchell, father of Jamaican musician Wanye Marshall, passed away in the University Hospital at the West Indies in St Andrew on Sunday (June 10).
The entertainer, whose real name is Wayne Mitchell, confirmed his father’s death in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“Fly with the angels my boss. Daddy passed today after fighting hard in the hospital,” Marhsall revealed.
“Thanks for all the prayers, support and positive energy in this tough time. God has him now and it is well. Wycliffe Mitchell Jan 12 ,1952 – June 10, 2018,” he added.
He was 66 years old.
Wycliffe’s death comes two days after he suffered a massive heart attack.
“Please help me and my family send up prayers and positive energy for my father who suffered a massive heart attack and is now fighting in the hospital,” the “Go Love” singer wrote via Instagram on Friday.
“He is my general, confidant, best friend, advisor, biggest supporter, life coach and teacher. He is everything to me. We love him dearly. I thank the medical team for the effort and support. We staying positive because the major part of the battle is in God hands and not mans. Stay up Dad,” Marshall added.
The former member of the Bounty Killer-led Alliance, is currently promoting his gospel single ‘Glory To God’ which has racked up over 500,000 hits during the last two months.
The Wolmer’s Boys’ School past student married fellow artist Tami Chynn in 2009.
