2013 was quite a year for artist, producer and designer Pharrell Williams, with Grammy-winning Record of the Year “Get Lucky” being the most recent accolade.
In a brief interview, Pharrell talks to Nick Huff Barili of Best Of Hard Knock TV about his early relationship with disco and R&B, its evolution into hip-hop and its respective strands, and how his brand i am OTHER looks innovate culture in a similar way.
Pharrell goes further to describe his unique disposition as a “little left of center,” suggesting that Jay-Z’s mumble when composing songs is his own method to the madness.
Rounding out the session, Pharrell lets us in on the creative process when he collaborates with an artist in the studio and speaks on how a generation of new artists like Lorde, Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran are producing meaningful music.
