Jamaican Woman Swallowed 68 Cocaine Pellets In Smuggling Bid

A woman who swallowed 68 cocaine pellets before traveling from Jamaica to Fort Lauderdale is facing federal drug smuggling charges.

A woman who swallowed 68 cocaine pellets before traveling from Jamaica to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is facing federal drug smuggling charges, Hype Life Magazine has gathered.

After arriving on a flight from Kingston, Venesya Oldacre, 30, was on Aug. 31.

She was interviewed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and told them she had planned to take a cab to a Red Roof Inn in Fort Lauderdale, according to a federal complaint.

Once she had passed the pellets she would have received $3,000 for her troubles, the Sun Sentinel reports.

She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, where she excreted 68 pellets containing 1.5 pounds of cocaine, according to the complaint.

The drugs are estimated to have a street value of around $21,000.

Oldacre has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Possession of more than one pound carries a maximum of 40 years in prison.

She is being held at the North Broward Jail without bond.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on September 23. 

Her attorney, Attorney Phillip Horowitz, declined to comment on the case.
