Jamaican authorities are investigating an oil spill in Kingston Harbour...

Members of the National Environment and Planning Agency in Jamaica have been investigating reports of an oil spill in the Kingston Harbour, which took place on Friday Nov 25.

The epicenter of the oil spill is said to be at Gordon Cay.

NEPA says it is investigating the source, quantity and extent of the impact of the oil spill on the marine environment.

The Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard has been tasked with clean up efforts while the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is coordinating the effort.

As expected, fisher folk and members of society are being asked to stay clear of Gordon Cay and the surrounding areas until further notice.
