Megan Thee Stallion has scored her first number one on Billboard’s Rhythmic Songs airplay chart as “Hot Girl Summer,” her collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign, climbed from the runner-up rank on the chart dated October 26, 2019.
The track ascends despite a 1% drop in plays on the format in the week ending October 20, according to Nielsen Music.
“Hot Girl Summer,” which landed at the summit in its 10th week on the chart, has easily outshone the Houston rapper’s prior entries on Rhythmic Songs: Debut release “Big Ole Freak” notched a No. 21 peak in May, while “Cash Shit,” featuring DaBaby, halted at No. 24 last month.
Meanwhile, Ty Dolla Sign, acquired his third No. 1 on Rhythmic Songs and first not in a featured role. The Los Angeles rapper previously reigned through guest turns on Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home,” for one week in 2016 and on Post Malone’s “Psycho,” for four weeks last year.
“Hot Girl Summer” also gave Nicki Minaj her eighth visit on the Rhythmic Songs chart, where she surpassed Mariah Carey for the third-most No. 1s on the summit among female artists since it began in 1992, trailing only Rihanna (17) and Beyoncé (9).
