A picture of Mavado‘s son in prison has recently surfaced online.
In the picture, 19-year-old Dantay Brooks, who is to be tried for murder, appears to be physically healthy and in good spirits. He can be seen rocking a bandana around his head while wearing a long-sleeve top with shorts.
Approximately two years ago, the son of the Dancehall star was charged jointly with Andre Hines for the June 5, 2018 murder of Lorenzo Thomas, otherwise called ‘Israel’ or ‘Trulups’, in Cassava Piece, St Andrew. They were both charged with conspiracy to murder, arson, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Brooks had also been accused of giving his co-accused, Hinds, an order to behead Thomas.
A witness statement given to the police had alleged that Mavado’s son gave the instruction, according to reports. The statement further alleged that Hinds attempted to carry out the order but only managed to partially sever Thomas’s head.
The crime allegedly took place three days before an attempt was made on Mavado’s life. During that time, the police had ordered Mavado to turn himself in to the authorities for questioning.
The “Top Shotta Nuh Miss” entertainer fled to the United States, drawing heavy criticism from many fans who suggested that he was being a coward and has deserted his son.
Mavado’s son denied the allegations when he appeared in the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. He has repeatedly been denied bail since he was picked up by the police in June 2018, and remains in custody. He is now 19-years-old and was just 17 at the time when he was charged.
