Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ Hits No. 1 On Billboard Hot 100 After 25-Year

Mariah Carey’s 1994 carol “All I Want for Christmas Is You” crowns the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time.

‘s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is at the top of the Billboard chart for the first time ever.

Billboard announced on Monday (Dec. 16) that the legendary singer’s holiday tune has reached No. 1 on the Hot 100. The song’s previous record was hitting No. 3 on the chart.

“@MariahCarey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is officially No. 1 on the #Hot100 for the first time this week, 25 years after its release,” Billboard wrote on Twitter.

“@MariahCarey now has 19 career No. 1 hits on the #Hot100, the second-most of all-time after @thebeatles (20),” the publication added.

This marks Mariah Carey’s first time hitting the chart’s peak since 2008’s “Touch My Body.”

The song was first released in 1994 on Mariah Carey’s “Merry Christmas” album. She was 24 when she recorded it.”All I Want for Christmas” has been featured in “Love Actually” and is used as Carey’s official holiday kick-off anthem every year. Ariana Grande and CeeLo Green have covered the track.

To date, Carey has earned more than $60 million in royalties off the song. Since 2014, she has performed a concert in honor of the classic song annually. Amazon is also debuting a mini-documentary about the history of the song, called “Mariah Carey is Christmas.”
