Celine Dion wants her fans to know she’s doing just fine despite reports that she’s lost too much weight.
The 51-year-old singer, who recently became the latest spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris, admitted she has dropped a few pounds but adds she is healthy.
“It’s true that I’m a little thinner. Everything’s fine, nothing’s wrong,” she told ABC News.
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer revealed that the shift is due to a new activity in her life: ballet.
“Dancing has been in my DNA all of my life,” Dion told People of her new practice, which stylist and dancer pal Pepe Muñoz helped her get into.
“It’s a dream. And so hard!” she elaborated.
This comes after rumors swirled early this year that the “My Heart Will Go On” songstress was battling an eating disorder. The rumors apparently started when the Canadian singer showed up at several fashion events in January. When she attended Alexandre Vauthier’s fashion show in Paris on Jan. 22, 2019, the singer looked like she had lost a considerable amount of weight.
The following day, Celine Dion was among the crowd at Ronald van der Kemp’s fashion show in the City of Lights. She was spotted attending the event with her close friend and backup dancer Pepe Muñoz. At the time, some fans speculated that Celine Dion looked frail and slimmer than her usual self.
Many fans of the musician have since expressed their concern for her on social media, saying that she’s gotten too “skinny” and “weak.” Others have begun to speculate whether she hasn’t been eating because of anorexia. However, many netizens also slammed the diva for not taking care of her body.
In late January, the “Ashes” hitmaker broke her silence during an interview for “The Dan Wootton Interview” podcast.
“I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine and sexy. If I like it, I don’t want to talk about it. … If you like it, I’ll be there. If you don’t, leave me alone,” she stated.
Despite Celine‘s brave statement, the body-shaming and eating disorder rumors never went away. This week, the singer finally shut down the anorexia speculations when she sat down for an interview with “Good Morning America.” The 51-year-old recording artist admitted that she’s “a little thinner” than before, but she said that it’s all because of her newfound passion for dancing.
“I do this four times a week,” she told People.
“People say, ‘She’s a lot thinner,’ but I’m working hard. I like to move and (weight loss) comes with it.”
The Grammy winner, who’s had her own residency at Caesars Palacein Las Vegas for the last eight years, has taken up ballet, which she credits with giving her such a svelte figure.
