was reportedly detained at a Las Vegas airport Sunday morning (May 1) after marijuana was allegedly found on him by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents, according to TMZ.

The Canadian rapper attempted to board a flight leaving Vegas when TSA agents found a “large” amount of ganja in one of his bags.”

The 29-year-old artist, whose real name Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, was temporarily detained before he was permitted to leave without the marijuana, which was confiscated by the authorities.

Even though Tory Lanez managed to escape Las Vegas authorities unscathed, the stakes are higher in his ongoing court case with Megan Thee Stallion, who has accused him of shooting her in the feet following a dispute inside a vehicle in July 2020.

In that case, the “Mucky James” rapper faces charges of felony assault and carrying an unregistered firearm.

According to multiple reports, the “Cap” singer has pleaded not guilty to the two felony charges, but he could face up to 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted on both counts.

Tory Lanez was taken into custody last month after violating his protective order in the felony assault case. His bail was increased from $250,000 to $350,000.

During an interview with Gayle King of CBS Mornings last week, Megan Thee Stallion opened up about the shooting incident and claimed Tory Lanez offered to buy her silence for $1 million.

“He’s apologizing, like, ‘I’m so sorry. Please don’t tell nobody. I’ll give y’all a million dollars if y’all don’t say nothing,’” she said.

“And I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ Like, ‘Why are you offering me money right now?’ Help me. If you’re sorry, just help me,” she added.

Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion are scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 17, with the trial set to begin on September 14.

Tory Lanez arrived on the music scene in 2013, receiving his initial recognition from the mixtape Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story. The entertainer signed with record producer Benny Blanco’s Mad Love Records under Interscope Records in 2015.

His debut studio album, “I Told You” (2016), featured the singles “Say It” and “Luv,” which peaked at number 23 and 19, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100.

He won the 2018 Juno for the single “Shooters,” from his second album “Memories Must Die,” as well as in 2019 for ‘Rap Recording of the Year’ for his third album “Love Me Now?”

“Chixtape 5,” his fourth studio album, debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 in 2019.

That same year, he released his fifth studio album “Daystar,” which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and featured controversial responses to the allegations of him shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
