Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are “taking a break” after dating for nearly two years.
News of their breakup was reported in People Magazine, which described the split as ‘very amicable.’
“He’s still touring and is now going abroad. She is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A. It’s a very amicable decision,” a source told the outlet while insisting insisted that the two are “still very close friends.”
“Right now, they have different priorities that are keeping them apart,” another insider added.
The split comes after the two were troubled with drama in the lead-up to the release of their psychological thriller film, “Don’t Worry Darling,” due to an alleged feud with co-star Florence Pugh after Styles took over Shia LaBeouf’s role.
Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles were first linked in January 2021 after they were photographed holding hands while attending a friend’s wedding.
Over time, the 28-year-old pop star and the 38-year-old actress became more public about their relationship, with Olivia occasionally being spotted in the audience at Harry’s concerts. However, the two remained tight-lipped about their romance with the media as they have previously said they have received online abuse and “toxic negativity” about their relationship.
Why? “It’s obviously really tempting to correct a false narrative,” Wilde told Vogue in January. “But I think what you realize is that when you’re really happy, it doesn’t matter what strangers think about you. All that matters to you is what’s real, and what you love, and who you love.”
Olivia also addressed their notoriously private romance during a Variety interview in December 2021.
“I’m not going to say anything about it because I’ve never seen a relationship benefit from being dragged into the public arena. We both go out of our way to protect our relationship; I think it’s out of experience, but also just out of deep love,” she stated.
In an August profile for Rolling Stone, Harry expressed similar sentiments regarding his privacy.
“If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re choosing to have a public relationship or something,” he told the publication.
Prior to dating Harry, Olivia was engaged to Jason Sudeikis, with whom she shares an 8-year-old son Otis and a 6-year-old daughter Daisy. In November 2020, after Harry joined the cast of “Don’t Worry Darling,” news broke that she and the Ted Lasso star had quietly ended their nine-year relationship.
Harry Styles is currently performing in Mexico as part of a world tour that runs until March 2023. He has recently received a plethora of music award nominations, including The Grammys, the MTV EMAs and the Mercury Prize.
Olivia Wilde is slated to direct “Perfect,” a 1990s-set biopic about Olympic gold medallist Kerri Strug, to be portrayed by Thomasin McKenzie. She will also participate in a Marvel production that has yet to be titled, as per the movie and TV database, IMDB.
