Vybz Kartel has released the official visuals for his new song, “Tell Mommy.”
The cinematic music video, directed by Chrome Video Entertainment and shot in May Pen, Clarendon, depicts two poverty-stricken and lawless brothers taking to the streets to illegally acquire cash before the authority guns down one, and the other is tasked to “tell mommy” that her deceased son said that he “loves her.”
The touching single, released on Friday (April 8), appears to be a tribute to Vybz Kartel’s mother, Teresa Palmer, who celebrated her birthday last week.
“Tell Mommy, “I love her” / Supm aguh gwan, mi nuh muss come home / Tell her, “I love her” (love her) / Mi was a good good yute, anuh so mi grow / Everybody affi know, some people don’t know / Everybody affi know, some people don’t know,” Vybz Kartel sings on the chorus.

Vybz Kartel’s youngest son, Aiko’Don Palmer, Short Boss Muzik, and Vybz Kartel Muzik are credited for the production of “Tell Mommy.” Grammy-nominated and US platinum-certified music producer, JonFX (John Alexander Crawford), created the riddim and mixed the track.
The Jamaican superstar, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, has been serving a 35-year sentence on a murder conviction for the death of a former associate of his, Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, whose body was never found. The 46-year-old entertainer has maintained his innocence in the murder case and he is currently awaiting the United Kingdom’s highest court, the Privy Council, to review his appeal.
