Dancehall artists Alkaline, Spice, Popcaan, and Aidoinia are among the top nominees for YVA 2018. See the full list here.

leads in nominations of the rebranded Your View Awards (YVAs) or a second-consecutive year.

The announcement was made at the event’s launch held at Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston on Thursday (Jan 11).

The deejay received seven nominations in categories including Favourite Local Artiste (Male), Favourite Caribbean Artiste; Favourite Artiste; Hot Summer Song Red Eyes and Favourite Local Chart-Topping Song. Last year, Alkaline secured 10 nods in nine categories but failed to win any.

Spie secured six nominations including Favourite Dancehall Artiste, Favourite Caribbean Artiste, Favourite Local Artiste (Female), and more.

Meanwhile and are tied with five each.

Florida-based singer Skip Marley was announced as the YVAs International Ambassador and will be presenting at the show.

Newcomer Yanique “Curvy Diva” Barrett has four nominations. Earning three nods each are Ding Dong, Chronixx, and soca stars Machel Montano and Nailah Blackman. The latter is slated to perform at the awards show on February 24 at National Indoor Sports Centre in St Andrew.

The Your View Award, which has rebranded this year, has already sparked some controversy after snubbing Vybz Kartel due to changes in the eligibility rules.

Several other local acts have received nominations including , Mavado, Chronixx, , and more.
