Buju Banton penned a heartfelt letter to his fans on Friday (June 2).
The Reggae superstar took to social media to thank his supporters and well-wishers for their continued support since his incarceration.
“To all of my fans who have stood beside me I thank you. Your actions, letters and heartfelt prayers have been appreciated. I thank you and am humbled by your kindness – I am with you and you with me. Always,” Buju wrote on his official Facebook page.
“After many years there were a multitude of my fans gathered on a page automatically generated from your search for me and my official page. With the approval of my official page you were migrated here…And at last we are reunited,” he continued.
“I will be with you again soon – they may have the past and present … but the future belongs to us. Bless…,” he added.
Buju Banton, whose given name is Mark Myrie, was arrested in 2009 on cocaine charges, given a mandatory 10-year sentence in 2011.
However, the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website is reporting the artiste’s new release date is December 8, 2018.
Days after his conviction, Buju Banton won a Grammy Award for his album Before Dawn.
His other albums include “Til Shiloh,” “Inna Heights,” and “Unchained Spirit.”
