Melyssa Ford survived a near-death experience recently after she suffered a fractured skull from an accident with an 18-wheeler on Thursday.
The former Bravo network Blood, Sweat & Heels personality was heading westbound on the 134 freeway in Glendale, Calif., on her way to model Zena Foster’s bridal shower when an 18-wheeler merged into her lane and clipped her back right tire, Ford told reporters.
The model, TV personality, and radio host sustained serious head trauma, including a skull fracture, concussion, and bleeding in her brain, along with other severe cuts and bruises.
She also had a 10-inch open wound that had to be surgically closed using stitches and staples. With the driver of the 18-wheeler still at large, her friend Claudia Jordan fromReal Housewives of Atlanta posted a photo of the crash — with Ford’s permission.
“It’s a shame I have to do this to let folks know the seriousness of @melyssaford ‘s accident (I got her permission first) but here it is,” she captioned a photo from the accident.
“She was involved in a horrific accident that could have easily taken her life. It’s actually a miracle she survived. She’s injured FOR REAL. She doesn’t even remember this as she has a huge gash in her head and blood on the brain,” she added.
Jordan also asked for any witnesses to come forward as Ford does not remember what happened.
“As you can imagine Melyssa doesn’t remember much so I’m hoping witnesses will come forward and assist in putting the pieces back together,” she wrote.
She ended with a request for prayers.
Another of Ford’s friends, hairstylist-influencer-blogger Maryam Iman, also posted about the accident, ripping people for their “lack of sensitivity” and “ignorant comments.”
“Just yesterday my best friend/adopted big sister @melyssaford Got clipped by an 18 wheeler…her jeep flipped three times. Thank god she was wearing her seatbelt but sustained serious head inquiries. She fractured her skull as well as a concussion and bleeding in her brain. Seeing you in the hospital bed reminded how short life is and how fast things can happen. Driving home yesterday from the hospital completely choked me up. It’s a blessing you are still here with us. However, I’m absolutely disgusted by the lack of sensitivity and ignorant comments being made on Instagram. This is not a joke. She is beyond lucky to be alive. Nothing is fucking funny about someone getting in a car accident. Mel has an 10-inch open wound that had to be surgically closed with staples and stitches and several abrasions on her body.,” Iman captioned an Instagram photo of her and Ford.
“Life is short and so please spread love. Please only send my friend love and healing during this time. Hug your loved ones and hold them close ❤️ love you @melyssaford and I’m glad you’re still here with us.,” she added.
Ford’s mom told reporters that they are holding it together for her daughter.
“It’s so difficult in circumstances like these to live 2,500 miles away from my only daughter. Melyssa is strong, always has been. We are going to get through this together.”
