Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has announced that she is pregnant.
On Wednesday (March 8), the Double Olympic gold medallist revealed on social media that she will miss the 2017 season due to pregnancy but plans to return in 2018.
“All my focus heading into training for my 2017 season was on getting healthy and putting myself in the best possible fitness to successfully defend my title in London2017. But life is filled with many blessings with God. So here I am thinking about being the greatest mother I can be with my biggest blessing and the promise God made me.Moving forward on this journey, I look forward to seeing you all in 2018 when I return to competition on the tracks and around the World. Fans of the track star flocked to her accounts congratulating her and welcoming the announcement.
Fraser-Pryce plans to return to action in 2018. The 30-year-old sprinter said she had hoped to defend her title in London.
The Jamaican sprint star is Jamaica’s leading female sprinter and is regarded as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
She is married to long-time boyfriend Jason Pryce.
