An award-winning actor more widely recognized for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation,  and his musician spouse Sunny Ozell are vacationing on the beautiful island.

On Sunday (Dec 6), Sir Patrick tweeted a photograph of himself and his wife sipping smoothies from what seems to be the balcony of a villa.

In the caption, he told his two million followers:

“Man, the smoothies they make in are somehow A LOT more delicious than the ones in Los Angeles.”

The tweet attracted 500 retweets and 3,300 likes in five hours. Los Angeles is understood to have an impressive ‘smoothies scene’ with all kinds of retailers devoted to the product.

It represents the latest endorsement of Jamaica’s tourism product – which is on pace to draw a new annual arrivals record in 2015 – by an international star through social media.

A couple weeks ago, Electronic Dance Music star Bassnectar informed his 242,000 twitter followers  that he was “Taking a weekend off to worship the sun in Jamaica”, an announcement which attracted a retweet by the Jamaica Tourist Board.

Earlier this year, the web exploded when worldwide celebrity Alicia Keys shared a photograph of herself on Instagram doing a remake of Jamaica’s most well-known promotional poster.
