Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin recently expressed what she likes most about being an independent artist during an interview call with AXS of Atlanta.
The winner of NBC’s “The Voice” Season 5, who recently released her sultry single “Love Suicide,” has explained why she chose to work with her own label, label Chinita Entertainment.
“It’s a big step,” she told AXS.
“But it’s one I take on happily because I feel like in this day and age, especially being an independent artist, it feels good to be able to control what you want to say and how you want to present it,” she explained.
Tessanne chose to be an independent artist because she appreciates the creative control she has over her music, what and how to sing.
Tessanne was a favorite from the moment she joined Team Adam on “The Voice” in the fall of 2013. She outlasted her teammate Will Champlin and Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee to become the show’s third consecutive female winner and the second champion for Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine.
“Love Suicide,” which is now available on iTunes, is her first self-released single under her label Chinita Entertainment.
