Vybz Kartel will have to wait an additional five months before commencing his appeal, Hype Life Magazine has learned.
The appeal hearing for the controversial Dancehall superstar has been rescheduled from February next year.
Kartel’s appeal hearing has been rescheduled from February 19 to July 9.
The update was confirmed on Monday (Nov 13) at a case management hearing.
Indications were that the incarcerated deejay’s defense team sought more time to complete their preparation for the appeal.
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, along with the other men, was convicted of the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
They are all now serving life sentences as a result of the conviction.
Kartel will have to serve at least 35 years and by that time he will be 72 years old.
His protege Shawn Storm and close friend Kahira Jones will have to serve 25 years before parole, while St John will have to serve a minimum of 15 years.
The four men have been behind bars since 2011 and were convicted in 2014, which means they would have already served six years.
All four men have maintained their innocence.
