Perverting the Course of Justice Case against Vybz Kartel, Gaza Slim and Pim Pim Dropped
Reports are in that the ‘perverting the course of justice’ case against entertainer Vybz Kartel and his co-accused, Gaza Slim and Pim Pim, has ended today.
Directors of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn entered a nolle prosequi ending the matter on the ground that Vybz Kartel’s murder conviction and sentence is being appealed.
Attorney Tom Tavares-Finson made an application previously that it wouldn’t be in the interest of justice for this trial to proceed while the appeal is pending, given the fact that the witnesses are the same.
Vybz Kartel, Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler and Andre Henry were charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice in relation to the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
It is alleged that Saddler, in order to give the impression that Williams was not dead, reported to the Constant Spring police that Williams robbed her after the date he was believed to have been murdered. A text message was allegedly sent to Saddler’s cellphone instructing her to make the report to the police.
Vybz Kartel and three other men have since been convicted of Williams’ murder and are serving long sentences.
