A trailer for the Ridley Scott co-produced film Child 44 has been released.
The film is set in 1952 Soviet Union and follows a disgraced secret police agent Leo Demidov, played by Hardy, as he hunts a gruesome serial child killer during the Stalin era of the Soviet Union.
The plot is about an idealistic pro-Stalin security officer, Leo Demidov, is one of the most feared men in Stalin’s Soviet Union.
Leo never questions his patriotic duty until the young son of his friend is found brutally killed and he must deny the accusation of murder despite the evidence.
The state would not hear of the existence of a child murderer let alone a serial killer.
When his beloved wife is then accused of being a traitor, Leo is disgraced and fears for his life.
He gets demoted and exiled but decides, with just the help of his wife, to continue pursuing the case.
Banished to a work camp, he stumbles across a series of child murders matching the death of his friend’s son, Leo begins to track down the murderer and is shocked to find that his connection to it is deeper and more dangerous than he could have ever imagined.
